I say to them that the 1st thing I do is pray, and the 2nd thing I do is worship and praise God. I crank up some Christian heavy metal or contemporary worship music. See, if the enemy can keep you down and not praising God for who He is and what He has done in and through your life, then he will exploit your doubt in God and turn it from a crack in your spiritual foundation to a foothold, and ultimately destroy you. We must get back to the basics in our praying, reading, fasting, giving, praising, worshiping, exercising, and our nutrition.
“…Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10
Now understand what was happening when this verse was written. The walls of the city of Jerusalem had been torn down, the gates had been set on fire, and things were simply a wreck before Nehemiah got there. But finally, the city had been restored and the people began hearing the words of God read to them for the first time in a long time. The priests went about to each small grouping of people to make sure that all the people understood the meaning of the scriptures they had just heard read to them. The Joy of their strength came from hearing the Word spoken, and from that strength Joy came from faith in God that arises from praising Him.
Get Rhythm
When I get down or feel blue I spend time in praise and worship because I know that this will destroy any funk, any attacks, or anything that is hindering me from connecting with my God.
The song “Get Rhythm” reminds me to worship and praise the Lord when I get down. Here are a few of the lyrics to this Johnny Cash song:
Hey Get Rhythm when you get the blues
Hey get rhythm when you get the blues
Yes a jumpy rhythm makes you feel so fine
It’ll shake all the trouble from your worried mind
Get rhythm when you get the blues.
My Thot today is: whenever you're feeling down, blah, or you've got the blues remember to praise and worship. The Joy of the Lord is your strength and a great way to shake that heaviness off you is to worship, or as the man in black said, “Get Rhythm.” Enjoy this Video Clip.
