If I had a dollar for every time someone has said this to me in the last year I would be a rich man by now. Well maybe not rich, but at least $50 up. There is no such thing as a taboo food. Taboo means: A custom prohibiting or restricting a particular practice or forbidding association with a particular person, place, or thing. People tend to view certain foods as taboo. In reality, all food is fuel.
Food Is Fuel
Just as there is a difference in fuel or gas grades for your automobile, there are differences in food. In fuel grades, the low octane will run your car but over time engine parts will gunk up and gas mileage and performance will suffer. The high octane fuel will keep engine parts clean, gas mileage high, and there won’t be engine performance issues. In that same way, there’s a difference between a Boston Cream doughnut and a Multigrain English muffin. If you eat the Boston Cream doughnut it may only last 30 - 45 minutes in your system because it’s a fast burning carbohydrate, while the Multigrain English muffin may last 2 ½ – 3 hours in your system because it is a slow burning carbohydrate.
My Thot: when choosing which foods to eat, think about making your choices based on what’s best for your body. Think about what is fast burning and what is slow burning. The fast burning foods will cause you to get hungry faster, while the slow burning foods will keep you full longer and your energy higher.
