WHAT’S IN YOUR GYM BAG?

I ask this question because everyone is different. Everyone's goals and motivations for going to the gym is different. You may be in the gym to lose weight, build an awesome physique, strengthen your body, or it could have been medically recommended. Just like a mechanic needs a tool box to hold all of their tools in, we need a gym bag to contain our workout gear unless you workout from home. In that case, the information below may not apply to you.

Regardless of why you are at the gym, there are a few items that seem to be the norm, and a few that are optional depending on your situation and goals. For myself, I actually have two gym bags. The first gym bag is for swimming. It contains my kick board, training fins, hand paddles, large towel, goggles, & travel size personal hygiene items (hairbrush, body wash, underarm deodorant, etc).

The second gym bag contains my weight training gear, wrist straps, versa grip straps, sweat towel, Interim/Post workout BCAA's, shaker/water bottle, and travel size personal hygiene items, too.

Below are a few basic gym bag gear ideas, along with a few options that you might consider. This list is in no way set in stone. Its purpose is to help you think, plan, and prepare for the gym.

SIZE OF THE BAG MATTERS

This is up to you. For normal physical activities, most likely just a standard gym bag or duffel bag is all you will need. If your needs are swimming, then a bag that is water resistant or offers a mesh pouch for goggles, fins, hand paddles, kick board, etc. is important. If your needs are weight lifting, then you may need a bag big enough to hold wrist straps, sweat towel, lifting belt, perhaps hand chalk, supplements, & meals.
